John Livengood has been in the consulting business since 1989. He is currently the President of the Indiana Restaurant Association, the Indiana Hotel and Lodging Association, the Indiana Association of Beverage Retailers, and the Indiana Hospitality and Tourism Foundation. Prior to forming Livengood and Associates he served as Chairman of the Indiana Democratic Party from 1984 to 1988. Livengood has been widely recognized as being one of the key players in rebuilding the Indiana Democratic Party into a viable, competitive and winning organization. Starting in 1973 Livengood has worked with the Indiana General Assembly in various roles ranging from state agency liaison to Senate Democratic Advisor under Frank O’Bannon to liaison for Secretary of State Larry Conrad and Gov. Evan Bayh to registered lobbyist. John led the successful bid to secure the current contract for on-line computer services at the Indiana Lottery. Legislative accomplishments include repeal of the sales tax on complimentary hotel rooms; creation of the Tourism Council and the Indiana Office of Tourism Development; improved food safety through food handling training and certification; and the defeat of legislation that would have expanded access by minors to alcohol outlets. John is a member of the Columbia Club, American Society of Association Executives, Indiana Society of Association Executives, Governmental Affairs Society of Indiana, International Society of Restaurant Association Executives, and the International Society of Hotel Association Executives. He served as President of the Indiana Society of Association Executives and as a member of the Indiana Tourism Council, the Indiana Economic Development Council, the State Election Board, and as a delegate to the White House Conference on Tourism. John is a graduate of Wabash College. He received the Sagamore of the Wabash recognition from Governor Bayh in 1989.
